Identify the account that already has your progress
Begin on the device where your expected Fortnite progress is visible. Note the Epic display name and keep account identifiers private. Epic explains that progress belongs to the Epic account, so a console profile and an Epic account should not be treated as interchangeable names for the same thing.
If the problem is sudden missing progress on a previously working device, first consider whether you signed into the wrong account or lost account access. Use the recovery route when compromise is suspected. Linking another account at random can make the situation harder to describe without restoring the missing ownership.
Inspect the existing platform links
Sign into the intended Epic account through the official account portal and inspect Linked accounts. For a straightforward addition, select Link for the platform you want to connect and follow the platform’s sign-in flow. Check the account shown on that platform before confirming the connection.
Epic limits how platform accounts can be associated: only one account of each platform type can be connected at a time, and a platform account can be connected to only one Epic account at a time. An “already linked” message therefore needs identification of the existing link, not repeated attempts with new accounts.
Treat replacement and recovery as different operations
If a platform profile is linked somewhere unexpected, read the matching Epic support article before unlinking anything. A replacement may involve a linking restriction; Epic’s documentation says removing that restriction can only be done once every 365 days. It also calls out Fortnite Crew considerations when removing a platform connection.
Stop if you cannot confidently identify which account owns the purchases and progress you want. Unlinking is not account merging. Use the official instructions for the exact error or ask Epic Support to help establish the account situation before approving changes that affect access.
- Identify the Epic account with the expected progress first.
- Review existing links and verify the platform account before confirmation.
- Use the specific error article for an existing link or restriction.
Verify the result on the second device
After a successful link, open Fortnite on the added platform and check the expected identity and progress. Verify a small, recognizable piece of existing ownership rather than making a new purchase as a test. If the result is wrong, record what the portal and game show before changing anything else.
Keep the support report precise: which device has the correct progress, which Epic display name is visible and which linking message appears. Send private identifiers only through Epic’s official support channel. The successful outcome is access to the intended account across devices, not merely a connection marked active in a portal.
