Testing content, not a stable-release announcement
Mojang's overview dated 27 October 2026 describes features being tested for the year's final game drop, including ice caves, frozen mobs and new decorative blocks. It is a testing roundup, not confirmation that every feature is available in an ordinary stable world.
Choose the edition and a disposable world
Java players use snapshots through the Launcher's Installations settings. Bedrock has separate preview/beta participation and platform instructions. The overview lists Preview Realms on Xbox, Windows 10/11 and iOS, with Android betas through Google Play. Check the instructions for your own device.
Back up the world and test in a separate folder or copy. Mojang explicitly warns that testing versions can damage worlds; do not open the only copy of a long-running Survival save.
Read the build-specific changes
Bedrock Preview 26.70.21, published 20 October, documents packed-ice building blocks and further test changes. That numbered preview is a dated reference, not a claim to be the newest build. Java and Bedrock changelogs must be read independently before copying a command or assuming a feature matches.
