Read the CFI model on the console label before opening. These internal guides target the 2020 Disc Edition (CFI-10xxA).
CFI-11xx, CFI-12xx, Slim CFI-20xx and Pro CFI-70xx have different internal layouts. Do not transfer screw maps or drive procedures between revisions. Sony’s M.2 reference includes separate model instructions.
Remove, inspect and refit the original console base.
Signs to investigate
- Unstable console
- Missing or damaged base
Prepare your bench
- Coin or suitable flat screwdriver
Component procedure
- 01
Unplug the console and support its weight on a padded table.
- 02
For vertical use, remove the base screw before lifting off the base. For horizontal use, disengage the base from its mounting position.
- 03
Inspect the screw and hooks. Refit the correct original-model base in the intended orientation; store unused hardware in its compartment.
Do not use the console unsupported or substitute a screw of unknown length.
The console is stable on a level surface with no rocking.
Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
