Read the CFI model on the console label before opening. These internal guides target the 2020 Disc Edition (CFI-10xxA).
CFI-11xx, CFI-12xx, Slim CFI-20xx and Pro CFI-70xx have different internal layouts. Do not transfer screw maps or drive procedures between revisions. Sony’s M.2 reference includes separate model instructions.
Replace the enclosed module only after a technician confirms the power fault.
Signs to investigate
- No power after outlet and cable checks
- Physical damage to the power module
Prepare your bench
- Plastic opening pick
- Non-metallic spudger
- Organised screw tray
- TR8 security Torx driver
- Phillips screwdriver
Access first
Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.
Diagnose, isolate, then service
- 01
Test the outlet and an appropriate known-good power cable before blaming the supply.
- 02
Unplug the console. A technician should follow the matched case-removal sequence and separate the enclosed module from its board contacts.
- 03
Match the supply’s exact revision and connector arrangement. Keep its metal enclosure closed.
- 04
Restore all shielding, insulation and fasteners before reconnecting the console for testing.
Never open the PSU enclosure or probe its mains circuitry. Unplugging does not make its internal capacitors safe.
The fully closed console boots and remains stable during a normal game session.
Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
