Read the CFI model on the console label before opening. These internal guides target the 2020 Disc Edition (CFI-10xxA).
CFI-11xx, CFI-12xx, Slim CFI-20xx and Pro CFI-70xx have different internal layouts. Do not transfer screw maps or drive procedures between revisions. Sony’s M.2 reference includes separate model instructions.
Service the lighting assembly after checking whether the console otherwise operates.

Access first
Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.
Component procedure
- 01
Check startup behaviour, video output and the expected power state before opening.
- 02
Unplug the console. Work through the matched enclosure guide to expose the LED board and its ribbon.
- 03
Release the ribbon without dragging it across sharp shielding; remove the board’s fasteners and preserve light-guide alignment.
- 04
Install a compatible board, restore its cable route and reassemble all shielding and panels.
The light pattern alone does not prove that the LED board is faulty.
Light output is even and the console starts and shuts down normally.
Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
