Front shell

Experienced repairV1 · CFI-ZCT1W · BDM-010

Transfer the complete button and touchpad layout into a matching shell.

Confirm your revision

Reference: FCC ID AK8CFIZCT1 and motherboard BDM-010. Read the rear label; CFI-ZCT1W alone does not identify the internal revision.

BDM-020 and later controllers, and DualSense Edge, use different layouts. A removable rubber stick cap is not the soldered joystick module.

PRACTICAL REPAIR NOTES

Transfer the complete button and touchpad layout into a matching shell.

Signs to investigate

  • Cracked face shell
  • Broken internal mounting point

Prepare your bench

  • Plastic opening pick
  • Non-metallic spudger
  • Organised screw tray
  • Phillips #00 screwdriver

Access first

Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.

Component procedure

  1. 01

Isolate the battery and remove the front-shell subassemblies using the V1 reference.

  2. 02

Keep the buttons, membranes, touchpad bezel and microphone in labelled positions.

  3. 03

Transfer the light guide, rubber insulation and mute-button clip without stretching their cables.

  4. 04

Reinstall the frame and route ribbons through their original openings before closing.

STOP POINT

Shells that look similar may have different posts or clips.

BEFORE YOU CALL IT DONE

Buttons, touchpad and mute control move freely with even case seams.

Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
