Rear shell

Experienced repairV1 · CFI-ZCT1W · BDM-010

Open the back cover without tearing its clips.

Confirm your revision

Reference: FCC ID AK8CFIZCT1 and motherboard BDM-010. Read the rear label; CFI-ZCT1W alone does not identify the internal revision.

BDM-020 and later controllers, and DualSense Edge, use different layouts. A removable rubber stick cap is not the soldered joystick module.

PRACTICAL REPAIR NOTES

Open the back cover without tearing its clips.

Signs to investigate

  • Cracked rear shell
  • Need internal access

Prepare your bench

  • Plastic opening pick
  • Non-metallic spudger
  • Organised screw tray
  • Phillips #00 screwdriver

Access first

Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.

Component procedure

  1. 01

Remove the trim and bumpers, then the four exposed case screws.

  2. 02

Release the clips near the audio jack and along both grips with a plastic tool.

  3. 03

Separate the rear shell gradually. Keep the front assembly supported and avoid levering on the USB connector.

  4. 04

Align the new shell, check the seams and replace the four screws in their original positions.

STOP POINT

Do not use screw tension to pull a misaligned shell shut.

BEFORE YOU CALL IT DONE

The seams close evenly and no button binds.

Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
