Touchpad assembly

Experienced repairV1 · CFI-ZCT1W · BDM-010

Replace the touch surface, bracket and flex as a matched assembly.

Confirm your revision

Reference: FCC ID AK8CFIZCT1 and motherboard BDM-010. Read the rear label; CFI-ZCT1W alone does not identify the internal revision.

BDM-020 and later controllers, and DualSense Edge, use different layouts. A removable rubber stick cap is not the soldered joystick module.

PRACTICAL REPAIR NOTES

Replace the touch surface, bracket and flex as a matched assembly.

Signs to investigate

  • No touch response
  • Touchpad click sticks
  • Cracked surface

Prepare your bench

  • Plastic opening pick
  • Non-metallic spudger
  • Organised screw tray
  • Phillips #00 screwdriver

Access first

Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.

Component procedure

  1. 01

Disconnect the battery and touchpad flex before lifting the midframe.

  2. 02

Support the frame and board so the motor wires remain slack.

  3. 03

Remove the touchpad bracket screws and release the touchpad from the front shell.

  4. 04

Route the replacement flex through its bracket and frame openings, then restore the assembly.

STOP POINT

A pinched flex can fail even when the touchpad still clicks.

BEFORE YOU CALL IT DONE

Test touch position, gestures and click separately.

Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
