DUALSENSE / LAYER 04

Built-in speaker

Experienced repairV1 · CFI-ZCT1W · BDM-010

Service the small speaker and its pressure contacts.

Confirm your revision

Reference: FCC ID AK8CFIZCT1 and motherboard BDM-010. Read the rear label; CFI-ZCT1W alone does not identify the internal revision.

BDM-020 and later controllers, and DualSense Edge, use different layouts. A removable rubber stick cap is not the soldered joystick module.

PRACTICAL REPAIR NOTES

Service the small speaker and its pressure contacts.

Signs to investigate

  • No controller sound
  • Distorted local audio

Prepare your bench

  • Plastic opening pick
  • Non-metallic spudger
  • Organised screw tray
  • Phillips #00 screwdriver

Access first

Complete these access guides before the component-specific notes below.

Component procedure

  1. 01

Check the controller speaker-volume setting before opening.

  2. 02

Isolate the battery, free the required ribbons and support the lifted board without pulling motor leads.

  3. 03

Lift the speaker from the midframe. Inspect its contact surfaces and fit the compatible unit in the same orientation.

  4. 04

Restore the board, ribbons and battery before closing.

STOP POINT

A missing electrical contact will not be fixed by turning up the volume.

BEFORE YOU CALL IT DONE

Play a known controller-audio event at a moderate volume.

Restore all covers, shielding and cable routing before powered tests. Keep each screw in its original position. If fit or resistance changes, reopen and inspect rather than tightening harder.
